Kathmandu: Kathmandu has often been by some as a flawless jewel in a unique setting. No other place in the world has the concentration of culture, art and tradition that exists in the Kathmandu valley (1300m.). Kathmandu is the crossroads for the many ethnic groups of Nepal and for visitors from all over the world every year. Nestled in the central hills of Nepal, Kathmandu is at once medieval and modern. More than two hundred years ago these three cities (Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan) housed the Royal places of three different kingdoms that divided the valley palaces surviving today. Kathmandu valley combined cultural experience and natural heritage; you can visit Pasupati Nath temple, Katmandu Darbar Square, Kumari Temple, Budhanilkantha, Sowaymbhunath temple, and Buddhanth Stupa.

Muktinath: The famous Muktinath temple is lies in the district of Mustang, Gandaki zone of Nepal and is situated 20 km north east of Jomsom at an altitude of about 3710m.of above sea level. The temple is situated on a high mountain snow line range and is visited throughout the year. During the festival of Janai Purnima, Bijaya Dashami Hindu devotees gather here to pay homage to Lord Muktinath (Lord Shiva). The visitors get lodging facilities at Dharmasala and Lodges, hotels in Rani Pouwa. Another famous temple of Jwaladevi, the goddess of flame, is situated about hundred meters south of Muktinath temple.

Janakpur: Sita Biwaha Panchami this festival is the marriage ceremony of Sita with Ram, is particularly celebrated in Janakpur. Ram, hero of the epic Ramayana and an incarnation of Vishnu had come to Janakpur, which was the kingdom of Sita's father King Janak, to marry Sita. Each year in Janakpur, idols of Ram and Sita are brought out in bright processions and their Hindu wedding ceremony is conceded.

In our sightseeing tour we go to Pashupatinath Temple, Jaal Narayan (Budhanilkantha), Swayambhunath (Monkey temple) and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Pashupatinath Temple:  Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this is Nepal’s most sacred Hindu shrine and one of the subcontinent’s great Shiva sites. The supreme holiness of the site stems from the Shiva linga enshrined in its main temple. It expresses the very essence of Hinduism as pilgrims, priests, devotes, temples, ashrams, images, inscriptions and cremation ghats intermingle with the rituals of daily life, all sprawled along the banks of the sacred Bagmati River. The temple’s origins are obscure. An inscription here dates from 477 AD, but the shrine may have stood there for 1000 years before that.

Jaal Narayan (Budhanilkantha): Jaal Narayan popularly known as Budhanilkatha about 12 km north of Kathmandu, at the Shivapuri foothills is the largest Vishnu lying on a coiled five headed serpent carved in a single stone. Jalasaya Narayan is Lord Vishnu for Vaisnavas, Lord Shiva for Shivas, and Lord Buddha for Buddhists. This outstanding artwork of Lichhavi sculptures dates back to some 1500 years.

Swayambhunath Stupa:  6.5 kilometers west of Kathmandu, this great temple is just on the outskirts of Kathmandu. No one actually knows who built it. Many believe that the Lichavis constructed it while others believe that emperor Asoka had already visited it in the 3rd century.  The Swayambhunath complex consists of a giant Stupa, a large ensemble of shrines and temples, and also includes a Tibetan monastery, a museum and a library. This site has two access points: a long stairway, claimed to have 365 steps, leading directly to the main platform of the temple, which is from the top of the hill to the east; and a car road around the hill from the south leading to the southwest entrance. The first sight on reaching the top of the stairway is the Vajra.

Kathmandu Durbar Square: Kathmandu’s number one tourist attraction swarms with life. Though a few of the square’s 50-plus monuments date from the 12th century, most are from the time of the Malla Kings. Probably the most famous building here is the Kumari Bahal, a building richly decorated with beautiful woodcarvings, which is home to the Royal Kumari, the Living Goddess and a manifestation of the great goddess Durga. An intriguing piece here is the 17th century stone inscription set into the wall of the palace with writings in 15 languages. The Durbar square, protected as an UNESCO world Heritage site, is the social, religious and urban focal point of the city. There are also museums inside the palace building. There is an entrance fee of Rs.250 for foreign visitors. In Evening leisure, overnight stay at Hotel.

We approached Lumle for organising overland trip to Muktinath from Kathmandu and back. Operations Manager Nipendra Maharjan was the one who helped us plan our trip. He accompanied us all through the trip. We engaged a Mahindra Scorpio for our trip. Excellent and caring service has been Nipendra's hallmark. Along with the driver Sarath, both were outstanding. Ineffable to mention about their excellent conduct and service. I would strongly recommend Lumle if you are planning trip to Muktinath by overland tour. Nipendra is a great ambassador for Lumle.  Would recommend hiring an alternate vehicle other than Scorpio if you are looking at having more leg room and comfort.

We 5 friends went to Kathmandu Pokhara Muktinath trip from 9 April to 15 April. We chose Lumle Travel for our trip. We had started planning from February and Mr Nipendra of Lumle was involved with planning our trip. He always replied our e-mail and made our itinerary. When we reached Kathmandu airport he was there to receive us (we all are fifty plus ladies). We made plan to visit Patan and Pasupatinath temple after reaching Kathmandu on the same day. Mr Nripendra was kind enough to take us to Patan and Pasupati. He was with us all along on 9 April evening though our visit to Pasupatinath and sightseeing was starting on 10 April. Our Pokhara and Muktinath Darshan was also very pleasant .Hotel at Pokhara and Muktinath was also very good especially Om's home at Jomsom. Mr Hari of Om's home accompanied us to Muktinath. He is very caring and funny boy who took our luggage while we ladies were climbing. He was with us constantly with us at Muktinath looking after our luggage while we were changing after bathing and having Darshan at Muktinath Mandir.
